Sign Up: 2016 A Series A Month Reading Challenge!

Welcome to the official sign ups for the 2016 A Series A Month Reading Challenge, hosted by me, Danielle @ Love at First Page! I started this venture back in late 2014 and have read 14 series since! Challenging myself to read series I would otherwise keep putting off has been so rewarding. I have discovered new favorite books, new favorite authors, and of course new favorite book boyfriends!

If you would like to join 2016’s challenge, please grab the button above, add it to your blog, and read on for full details!

  • The challenge runs January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016. You can join any time you want by filling out the Rafflecopter below. You must have some sort of initial sign up post that links directly to A Series A Month on my blog to qualify for the challenge, which will be your first entry in the Rafflecopter. EDIT: This can include stating that you’re joining A Series A Month in a monthly recap post; it can be a separate post on your blog; it can be included in a page with all of your challenges; etc.
  • The goal is to read one series every month in 2016. How many books that series entails is up to you, but it must be at least two full length books (one book + one novella does not count). For example, I’ve read completed trilogies (i.e. Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen), I’ve read completed duologies (i.e. Gone with the Respiration by Lia Habel), I’ve read three books in a series that hasn’t completed yet (i.e. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater), and I’ve finished a series that I started years ago (i.e. Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost), etc. The point of this challenge is to read series you’ve been meaning to read and have wanted to read for a while but have never gotten around to doing so.
  • The series itself does not have to be completed in 2016, but you should read through the most recently published book in the series. My personal goal has always been either a completed duology or a series with at least three published books.
  • The books in your chosen series must be read within the same month (give or take a couple of days only). Reading one series over the course of six months does not count!
    • If you have an extra long series (6+) books, I will allow for two months to finish plus two separate entries in the Rafflecopter.
    • If you have a lazy/super busy month and you start one series but don’t finish it until the next month, you can count that series for the second month only (one total entry, not two).
  • Re-reads count. I just ask that you’re honest and you actually do re-read the books you say you have!
  • The books can be in any format and in any genre, and companion series do count.
  • Use the hashtag #ASeriesAMonth when posting your reviews/updates on social media.
  • If you would like recommendations, or to see how I’ve done with the challenge in the past, please see this post. It’s also where I’ll be updating 2016’s challenge!

  • There will be two giveaways for this challenge: one for those series read from January – June, and one for those series read from July – December. The winner picks one series of their choosing (up to 3 books, no more than $35). Open internationally as long as the Book Depository ships to you.
  • Please use the Rafflecopter below to post links to your sign up/update post, links to your monthly reviews/recaps, and other chances to win. You must link directly to the post, not your blog! You do not have to write full reviews, but I ask that you at least mention completing your series for that month (maybe in your blog’s monthly recap or if you have a dedicated update page for your challenges) and referencing A Series A Month.
  • You do not have to have an entry for every month. I realize binge reading an entire series can be challenging with our busy schedules, so missing one, two, etc months does not disqualify you for the challenge. For example, you can have a series read in January, March, and June, for a total of three series entries. You must have a sign up post, and you must have completed at least one series in one month to qualify.

If you have any questions, please email me ( or tweet me (@loveatfirstpage). Don’t forget to use the hashtag #ASeriesAMonth to follow everyone’s challenge updates on Twitter!

  1. Yay for doing this again Danielle :D You are awesome. <3 I haven't decided yet if I shall sign up for it.. as I don't have that many series that I need to read, lol :D Well, okay, there are many, but many that I don't want to read after all, which is just depressing :p But I shall think about signing up :D

  2. This is another great challenge Danielle! I have so many series to catch up on, so this would definitely be the right challenge for me! I will certainly be signing up to this one too! :)

  3. Gah, there are SO MANY series I need to finish/start (because I own all the books in them), so this is PERFECT. And I will definitely be signing up. I just have to write up the post. :D

  4. Okay, this is one that I really NEED to sign up for, but I have to confess that the dedicated sign-up/update post thing gives me pause. Not that I don’t feel like you guys don’t deserve your own post – it’s just that I had this whole plan in place to streamline things and include my updates in my monthly posts, and I’m just a little afraid that the one little extra step will be all it will take to help me veer off course (sad, I know – but I’m pretty much always on the edge of veering off course!).

Anyway, I’m definitely going to think about this – at the very least, I can participate “unofficially.” :-)

  5. This is fabulous, but also challenging! I mean, it probably doesn’t count if I keep reading The Hunger Games over and over again, does it? I do definitely have a few series I’d like to catch up on- namely ToG, Lunar Chronicles, The Raven Cycle, The 5th Wave… this would be a REALLY good incentive for me. I will have to sign myself up! FABULOUS idea, I love it!

  6. I’ve just added this wonderful challenge to my 2015 challenges list. Thanks for hosting! I only have one question – lots of the series I read have 10+ books, and I wouldn’t be able to read them all in a month – if you have these massive series, can you read them over two months?

  7. I don’t normally read a lot of series, but I just realised I’ve got a few I’d like to catch up with/start. I went to sign up though and it said to link to a blog post. I’m not blogging, so would it be OK if I tweeted and linked back? Cheers
