Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far This Year

ttt2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week we get a new topic for a top ten list.

Today’s Topic ~ Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far This Year

As if I could ever keep this to ten. I decided to split my vote into two categories: books published in 2014, and books from my TBR pile.

From 2014…

1

2

(Honorable Mentions go to: Split Second by Kasie West; All Lined Up by Cora Carmack; Take Me On by Katie McGarry; Grim Shadows by Jenn Bennett; Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare; The Chapel Wars by Lindsay Leavitt)

From My TBR Pile…

4

3

(Honorable Mentions go to: Pivot Point by Kasie West; How to Misbehave by Ruthie Knox; Love the One You’re With by Lauren Layne; Sweetest Mistake by Candis Terry)

I kind of got lazy and didn’t tell you why these made my top ten lists, but I think I’ve talked about each of these books at least once on my blog at some point. :) I’d love to hear what you think about my choices and/or what your own are! Share with me in the comments!

  1. Oh man, great choices. I really need to read World After at some point in the near future and of course I am DYING to read Mortal Heart. I am so glad to hear you loved it! And I am one of the only people left in the world that hasn’t read Anna and the French Kiss. Soon, I swear!

I have Prisoner of Night and Fog and Something Real from the library right now actually! Maybe I will read them soon – I am even more excited now that I know you loved them!

  2. Ohh. So many amazing books :D I really loved Into the Still Blue as well. <3 And Cresss. ACK. MORTAL HEART. <3 Yess. Dying for it, lol. But so happy that you loved it :) Amazing list sweetie. <3

  3. Ahh you picked so many of my favorites! Free to Fall, Cress, Prisoner of Night and Fog, and Something Real all ended up on my list for 2014 releases too. I’ve been really impressed with the debuts!
And of course, always love for the girl of Fire & Thorns series & If I Stay! Plus Kasie West books!

  4. YAY, you liked Mortal Heart! Your updates on GR have made me even more excited for its release! Cress was awesome, I can’t wait to read Winter. Angelfall and World After are my all time faves. <3 Into the Still Blue was such a satisfying conclusion. I hope Rossi plans to write more YA. Although I didn't quite love the Fire and Thorn trilogy as much as everyone else I did enjoy it. :) And as you know, I adored PoNaF. One of my faves of 2014!

  5. Gah! So many amazing books I just can’t even! I can’t wait to start Mortal Heart and Free to Fall! I have What I Thought Was True and Ask Again Later so I’m happy to see you loved those!

You read Anna and the French Kiss! Was that not the cutest book ever?! I have to start Gayle Forman’s books at some point, as well as Susan Ee. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve downloaded The Distance Between Us from my e-library, renewed it, returned it, and then repeated the process. It’s ridiculous. I just need to read it already! I know I’m going to love it, but review books always seem to get in my way. :(

  6. I’m reading Something Real now and loving it! I also enjoyed Split Second and almost had that one on my list along with Romancing the Duke which was just a fun historical romance. =) Your TBR list also has lots of good titles and I’m totally looking forward to Every Breath and World After even more than I was before. I think they’ll both make my Summer TBR pile.

    My TTT is here.

  7. I need to get to my copy of Free to Fall, if only to meet this North guy. :) Also, it made your favorites list, so it’s got to be good, right? Something Real also made my list, and it was so unexpected. Great list!

  8. I really liked Where She Went a whole lot more than If I stay. I’ll be curious if they make that movie, too. Happy to see What I Thought Was True made your list as well. I really enjoyed this one, but I know lots didn’t. It’s hard to compete with My Life Next Door. That book was just amazing. But I think Fitzpatrick’s follow up surpassed my expectations. I’ll pretty much read anything that woman writes.

  9. The Bitter Kingdom and The Crown of Embers… YES! Then there’s Cress and Anna! That about sums up what I’ve read from your list. Haha. I won a copy of Faking Normal, so I’ll definitely be reading it over the summer. I understand it’s a heavy-issue book, but for some reason, I’m in the mood for heavy. But I also want to tackle as many series as I can this summer! From this list, I’m looking at: His Fair Assassin and Under the Never Sky. I’ve got the first 2 installments in each series ready to read on Kindle for PC. Let’s hope I’m in the mood to read on my laptop very soon, so I can get to these fantastic books. That reminds me, let me know when you’re ready to start the DoSaB series. Because I can do it whenever now. ;)

Awesome list, Danielle! I never expect anything less!

  10. Ahhh! This post is made of awesome, Danielle! :D So many of these books are also on my current favorites of 2014 list. Into the Still Blue was one of the best series endings this year. Something Real completely took me by surprise by how much I ended up loving it. I was so wary to read it because of the reality show aspect, but it was so well-written and I loved the themes the author handled. I’m excited to see Mortal Heart on so many of your favorites list. I can tell that I’m also going to love it.

I haven’t read Free to Fall and What I Thought Was True, but I’m going to very soon. I have both those books on my TBR. Cress was also a favorite of mine. I loved every book in this series and can’t wait for Winter. :) I adored Faking Normal and Ask Again Later. Ask Again Later is one of those books I think I could re-read a few times. Did you manage to snag a copy of Top Ten Clues? If you did, we should buddy read it if you’re interested. :)

    Great list, Danielle!

  11. WAIT, did I know you just read Angelfall/World After this year?!?! I love that series!! And Anna!!! <3 Cress almost made my own list today. And seeing Free to Fall on here makes me EVEN MORE EXCITED TO READ IT omggggg. Why don't we all just have unlimited reading time and enough hours in the day to read ALL THE THINGS?

  12. Such a fantastic list, friend! I don’t even know where to begin. Mortal Heart and Free to Fall are very soon reads for me. So many of these others I read and loved too. I’m sighing again thinking about many of these. Hope the rest of 2014 is just as good for you! Are you reading This Shattered World?! I need to know about that when your’e done.

  13. I loved Into the Still Blue, the whole series actually. I can’t wait to pick up Mortal Heart. I saw some of your updates on GRs and it made me even more excited. Hopefully I can snag a copy at the ALA the end of this month. I’m really looking forward to Isla! Great TTT, Danielle! :)

  14. Ooh yesss to ask again later and prisoner of night and fog! Adored both of those so dearly. I read Anna and the French Kiss recently, and that was seriously so much fun.

    Cute blog! <33

  15. MORTAL HEART! This will sure as hell be on my list when I read it. If only I had a stockpile of reviews written and could start reading my BEA pile *sigh* And Cress, OBVS.

The Distance Between Us, World After/Angelfall, Anna, If I Stay/Where She Went <333 These are all favorites of mine (what good taste you have ;))

Ask Again Later and Something Real are "read-soon"s for me. I'm excited

  16. Loveeeee Something Real, Prisoner of Night and Fog, WIWT, Cress and Ask Again Later. Also, The Bitter Kingdom was amazing. I’m so glad I stuck with that series, even though I didn’t like the first book. It gets SO good. Things I Can’t Forget. YESSSS. That’s my favorite Kenneally so far, and it’s not the most popular one, because it’s so much darker and Kate is hard to take. I’m glad you loved it too. The character arc and lessons were so powerful for me. :)

  17. I love that you split your list into two groups…I wouldn’t be able to choose just 10 also. Too many amazing books! You have so many awesome choices on both lists and some that I need to add to my list! Thanks so much for sharing!
